Sitting modestly among the gum trees in Teesdale, 30km east of Geelong, this Passivhaus gives nothing away to the passer-by. Taking cues from the rural setting, this clean looking Australian “shed” is a wonderfully cozy home for Kerri and her two pooch pals.
Successfully completed on a tight budget, this modern home sacrfices nothing to achieve the rigorous performance standards of Passivhaus to have a perfectly comfortable space.

The Teesdale House challenged our understanding of construction budgets for a high performance building and delivered on the client brief – a self-sufficient home that would require next to no maintenance and be extremely comfortable, year round.
With no compromise on the quality of materials or workmanship, the house is filled with natural light and feels much larger than the illusion the compact form might give upon arrival.

Finding a builder and designer who was on pretty much the same wave length as me regarding building a house for a sustainable future. I was also looking for someone who was realistic about the costs of such a house and able to talk me through what would work and more importantly what wouldn’t work.
